About the PTO 

What does your PTO plan and how are your donations spent?

   Here is a snapshot of what your PTO plans and funds during a typical school year. If you have ideas for programs, events, or activities you'd like to see the PTO sponsor, we encourage you to attend a PTO General Meeting and share your suggestions.

PTO Sponsored Events (non-fundraising, no profits) & Expenses:

• Popsicles with the PTO/Welcome Back Social: When you come to meet your teacher we provide popsicles for everyone!

• Welcome Back Breakfast for the teachers

• Conference dinners for the teachers, staff holiday meals and Staff Appreciation Wekk

• Retirement gifts for staff

• District Donations: Donation to new schools PTO funds, PERC, PTO presidents scholarship, Senior Scholarships

• Author Visits

• Kindergarten & 5th Grade T-shirts

• Family Skate Night

• Teachers/Parents Communicator (Green Folders)

• Leeds Farm: A fall event held at Leeds Farm. SCE rents the site for a couple of hours and everyone can participate in all the events located on the farm!

• SCE Sharing Our Stories: During the school day tables are set up with students sharing information important to them. This can be about sports they are in, family history, where they are from, traditions their families do, and more! In the evening the school is opened up to families to come and set up a table to share their family history/background/foods/traditions. There are other events scheduled through out the evening as well like student art work, Sparks performance, 3rd grade music performance, book fair, and open house showing students work.

• Supergames: Held during the school day for the students. There are blow ups and field day type events.

• Read A Thon: Bingo card sent home over winter break, with prizes for those that complete a bingo

• 5th Grade End of Year Event, 5th Grade Clap Out and Class Gift for the School

• Special Projects for the school (Previous projects have included flexible seating for classrooms, drums for music room, outdoor classroom, Chrome Books, printers, mascot, recess storage shed etc.)

• Spirit Wear Sales

• Landscaping/Maintenance of Outdoor Classroom

• Teacher Grants/requests (For the school year, we offer a teacher/staff grant request program. Previous items purchased have included Book Bins for classrooms, Binoculars for 'What is in Our Backyard' curriculum, Library label system, classroom organizers, Indoor recess equipment

• Taxes/Expenses (copy paper, popcorn, office supplies)

• Winter Service Projects (done during the school day, by grade level, to help local shelters and nonprofits)

PTO Fundraising Events:

• Dinner Night Outs

• Fall Mumkin and Spring Flower Sales

• Walk-a-thon: A family walk around the park with games set up through out, tables with different activities, touch a truck, food trucks, and more!

• Family Game Night: BINGO! Night

• Spring Online Auction

• Springtacular: Family event held in the evening. It is very much like a carnival! There are games, blow ups, Scottish Sugar Walk (formally the cake walk), Tootsie Roll Game, International Food tables, the Prize Room, Food Trucks, and more!
